Wanna buy my house?

A ton has transpired in the past 3 days. Brian received a job offer in NC and he will begin work there on July, 1! We are so excited but there's soooo much to do!!

In the meantime, I'm 32 weeks pregnant and concerned about obtaining prenatal care in Greensboro. I've been in contact with the Ob/Gyn where I worked after I finished undergrad, so hopefully they'll take me on this late in the game. Of note, I've become increasingly more uncomfortable. In fact, as soon as I'm finished with this post, I'm going to lay in bed; no couch, recliner or chair is doing it for me tonight. In utero baby continues to kick and kick and move and swirl and somersault and prod. It's getting hot, too, so, yeah, I'm kinda starting to be done with pregnancy.

The in-laws were here this past week. It was such a fun week! Mike and Nancy are always up for anything and we enjoyed playing Scrabble and Clue and going to the zoo.

Nancy's parents came up from Texas for several days, so not only did Dolly get to spend a lot of quality time with Grammy and Grampy, he got to be with his great-grandparents, too! They did so much fun stuff: playing at the mall, riding the train in the park, visiting museums and bookstores, playing in the pool...you know, stuff for which I have no pictures of. The best part of all this was that I was able to work an entire week, generating some much needed dough in the Simpson household. So, thanks, Mike and Nancy, for helping to make that happen!
So, yeah, we're moving. Like in 2 weeks. Going to live with Mike and Nancy until my Dad and Paula secure a home in Greensboro. Once that happens, we will move into that home until my Dad and Paula decide to relocate to that area from Florida. What does that mean for us? Rent-free living for several years!! Aka-pay down/off the tremendous amount of student loan debt that haunts us at every turn. Actually, the paying down of the debt won't technically begin until we sell this house. Soooo, you interested? Know anyone that is? Great home in a nice neighborhood on a quiet street. Just let me know.

In the meantime, enjoy some pics of my cute kid!

9 weeks to go!

I'm ashamed to admit it, but I think I gained 7lbs this past month!! I know, isn't that crazy?? Prolly all the sweets I've been eating. Yes, unlike with Dolly, my sweet tooth in is full swing. I can pass on the fries, but I refuse to refuse the cookies!! So, yeah, I bet that's where those lbs came from.

Other than that, my Ob visit was anti-climatic, as most of them have been. I will be going back in approx. 2 weeks, whereupon I will have another ultrasound! Aren't ultrasounds so much fun?? They really are. Dr. Rainwater said that they routinely do another ultrasound sometime in the 3rd trimester, just to get an idea of how things are looking. So, we're looking forward to that.

My work threw the office manager and me a double shower last week. The office manager is due exactly 1 week before me. Everyone was so sweet to attend and I got lots and lots of great stuff...stuff that I didn't really need, per se, but wanted!! Yep, this time around, it's all about what I'd like to have, not what I need...seeing as how I have everything I need. Anyway, pictures were taken....but am I going to post any?? Absolutely not!! I look horrid in all of them...and believe or not, I'm not into posting unflattering pictures of myself....My husband?Probably. Me? No! So, you'll just have to use your imagination on this one.

Still working on all the arrangements for the sets of grandparents to be here this summer. Mike and Nancy will be here tonight and will stay through Sat. My Dad and Paula will come for a couple of weeks in June and my mom will be here in July for several weeks. All of this traveling by the family is on account that I need to work as much as possible before the little guy arrives. Jacob's school is out until the end of June, and even when it starts back up, it's only for 2 days through the middle of July. So, I need to work as much as I can, seeing as how his school doesn't accept babies until they're 6 months old, which means that I won't be headed back to work until that time. I could try to find someone to keep the little guy until he turns 6 months, but I don't want to risk putting him in a situation like I put Jacob. I still have a lot of guilt surrounding the fact that I left him with those people, the Dyers. What an awful situation that was!! So, yeah, I'll just wait until he's 6 months before I head back to work.

Anyway, as I said in my post last week, it's really nice for everyone to head this way. I'm sure I'm going to need all the help I can get. I'm actually very nervous about having a 2-year-old and a newborn. I remember what it was like with Jacob for that first little bit and I'd be sorely misleading you if I described it as "fun." In fact, "fun" is the last word I'd use to describe that period of time. So, yeah, thinking about going through that again but this time with a 2-year-old...well....let's just say I have some major trepidations. I know, I know. It will be fine. It's always the anticipation that's worse than the actual situation, right? Yeah, sounds good, anyway.

Ok, well, that's all I've got for this week. Join me next week when I'll only have 8 weeks left to go! Good lord, where has the time gone?

I almost forgot!!!!

I cannot believe that I forgot to mention this!! This is hilarious!!

Ok, so, several months ago I stumbled upon a website that, after uploading a pic of yourself, would tell you which celebrity you most resemble. Well, for the life of me, I can't remember which celebrity I most resemble, but you can bet your sweet baby-booties I remember who hubby most resembles according to the website. You ready?? Here goes....and I am not making this up!!!::::

That's right!! Brian most resembles Christie Brinkley!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This cracks me up....even now!!!

This guy was a close second:

Yep. 1st place was Christie Brinkley. 2nd place was Jack Osbourne. I'm cracking up right now!!

Wonder what Dolly would say if I showed him a pic of Christie Brinkley. I swear I'd pee my pants if he said, "Da-Da."

My husband is such a good sport. But is he an uptown girl?? That's yet to be determined.

10 posts in 10 weeks

So, I feel like I owe it to in utero baby to begin the blogging process on his behalf. I've been a bad host this time around with not having a website/blog dedicated to this pregnancy. In an attempt to make up for this, I will blog weekly for the next 10 weeks about this pregnancy.

I am now 30 weeks. This week marks my last week of visiting the Ob/Gyn on a monthly basis. Yep, after my visit on Friday, I will be going bi-weekly for a month or so and then it will be on to weekly visits. I am truly amazed at how quickly the time has gone by.

This pregnancy has been different in many ways, but most particularly in how old I've felt. In the beginning, I was extremely tired and now, I fear, that fatigue is returning. I'm not usually one to nap, but I will sneak one in now any chance I get. So, that makes me feel old. Another difference is in how much this kid MOVES!! It's like this kid is moving more than he's not. Really. My understanding of fetal movement is that babies are usually lulled to sleep with movement, such as walking. Well, I walk all the freakin' time and I can feel this kid tumbling around as I do. It's crazy. And at night, my lord. If I wake up in the middle of the night to pee, I really have to weigh the relief I'll get from relieving myself versus waking up in utero baby and having him play ping-pong, or whatever he's doing in there, for the 20 minutes or so after I've peed. It's a true dilemma, that's for sure.

Of note, I've gained approximately 20lbs. Not bad, I guess. Average, I'd say. I sold all of my maternity clothes after I had Jacob, so I'm having to make do with over-sized shirts and a Bella Band. A Bella Band is an interesting apparatus. Here's how it works: you put on your favorite pair of jeans, leaving the button unbuttoned and the zipper unzipped. You then pull up the Bella Band over the jeans and up to your waist. It's an elastic band of material that covers the area of the button and zipper and, because it's elastic, it holds up your pants. So, you can continue to wear your jeans, shorts, slacks. Pretty neat, huh? The problem? Well, women bearing children are notorious for having to pee frequently and urgently. And, see, the Bella Band, by design, is tight and difficult to pull down (the point of it is to hold up your pants). So, when the urge to urinate hits, yeah, well, good luck with getting it and your pants down in a timely manner.

Brian and I are still struggling with names. Well, struggling isn't the correct word. We're really not even thinking about names. Really. I mean, the thought to think of a name only strikes me when someone asks if I've picked out a name. Naming this kid isn't even on my mind. Awful, huh? Ok, I take that back. I do have some that I've thrown around but that's about as far as it's gone. I guess it will come to us sooner or later.

We've not really brought up the idea of "brother" to Jacob. No real point in that right now. When it gets closer, I'll get some books and a baby doll and we'll work it in that way. It's going to be an adjustment for all of us, that's for sure.

We've got a big summer ahead of us, with all of the grandparents coming to stay for a period of time each month. Thank you all, again, for your willingness to spend bits of your summer in Arkansas. I'm sure for each of you that Arkansas is not your ideal vacation destination; we will try to make it worth your while.

Alright, that's my week 10 post. 10 down, 9 to go!

Agee, agee!

If you can stand my singing, this is a cute little video. "Agee" means "again" in toddler.

Backtrack

I realized that I haven't blogged about our remarkably unremarkable Easter and the recent visit from Grandad and Grandpaula. So, here goes:

Easter was silly. We attempted to go to 3 different Easter egg hunts but were foiled for one reason or another. The first attempt had us at the hunt too early. We then headed to another venue only to find a sleeping Dolly in the backseat. After his nap, we went to yet another egg hunt but were early, again. So, we waited around while Dolly took in the sights.

Brian and I got tired of standing around amongst the millions of, how should I say it, questionable people, and we decided to head home and put on our own egg hunt on Sunday. On Sunday, Dolly opened his Easter basket. The Easter bunny knows what this kid is into:

Oh, and he brought Brian and me baskets, too! (thanks, Nancy! I pilfered through everyone's basket and ate their Reese's cups! Yum!). We had nothing else to do but watch the rain pour down on Easter, which meant no Easter egg hunt for this guy. Oh, well...maybe next year!

A week or so later, Grandad and Grandpaula headed into town. I've gotten really bad about not taking pictures and so I have none to commemorate this event. But they were here, giving Brian and me a break at bath times, bedtimes and even one of the mornings! That's right, they came and got the kid on Saturday morning and took him away. That meant that both Brian and I could sleep in! Wow!!! There's nothing quite like it!

While with Grandad and Grandpaula, Jacob got to swim in the pool at their hotel. I'm told that he enjoyed himself and he even picked up a new favorite food: Frosted Mini Wheats. Yes, we now have to have these delightful squares of wheat topped with sugar at every meal. Grandpaula was also very kind to take Dolly clothes shopping. He continues to be the best dressed at school!! Thanks, Grandpaula and Grandad!!

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful moms in my life!

Harry S. Truman

Ok, so I've received several comments regarding my Obama-look-alike post and I want to say that, yes, I know that Dolly is just equating "male" with "Da-Da." Just like every dog that barks is our neighbor's dog, Bubba. All barking dogs are Bubba. I get it.

However, that just takes all the fun out of it for me. See, I'm one of those sick-os that likes to laugh at her husband. The more jokes that are on him, the better. So, when Dolly pointed to a picture of Harry S. Truman and exclaimed, "Da-Da," well, I enjoyed it!! Call me immature, but him pointing to truck drivers, presidents, any random man, and saying "Da-Da" is always gonna get a laugh out of me!
